About this tour

A small-group photography walk with an actual working Reykjavík-based photographer (not a generalist guide who took a course). Departure time shifts with sunset — 4 PM in midwinter, 10 PM in midsummer — always to put us at golden hour. Works for phones, mirrorless, or DSLRs; bring whatever you shoot with.

What's planned

  1. Meet at Hallgrímskirkja viewing terrace

    20 min

We start at the elevated viewing terrace south of the church. Composition lesson on rule of thirds, leading lines, and how to handle Iceland's flat light.

  2. Skólavörðustígur down the Rainbow Street

    20 min

Iconic shot looking down the rainbow street toward Hallgrímskirkja. We'll work on perspective and how to deal with foot traffic.

  3. Sun Voyager at golden hour

    30 min

The most-photographed sculpture in Iceland, framed against Esja mountain. Long-exposure water-blur technique demonstrated; tripod available.

  4. Harpa Concert Hall facade

    30 min

Olafur Eliasson's basalt-hexagon glass at sunset. Reflections, geometry, and how to handle mixed natural and artificial light.

  5. Quick edit review

    20 min

Walk back to the harbour. We pause at a café for a 20-minute review of one shot per person on the spot — phone or laptop.
