Reykjavík Food Walk
A 3-hour evening culinary walk through downtown Reykjavík — five tastings, from Bæjarins Beztu's famous hot dog to lamb soup at Café Loki, with a guide who actually knows the chefs.
About this tour
Five tastings across central Reykjavík, paced so you finish full but not overstuffed. Each stop is run by people we know, so the kitchen brings out a small portion of whatever they're proudest of that night — the menu shifts a little with the season.
What's planned
Meet at Reykjavík Roasters — Kárastígur
10 minReykjavík's flat-white pioneers. Coffee is on you if you want one before we start.
Café Loki — traditional Icelandic
30 minAcross from Hallgrímskirkja. Tasting plate of lamb soup (kjötsúpa), rye bread with smoked lamb, and dried fish (harðfiskur) with butter.
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur
20 minIceland's most famous hot-dog stand, operating from a tiny window since 1937. We get the classic eina með öllu ("one with everything").
Sægreifinn — The Sea Baron
30 minDown at the Old Harbour. Lobster soup or grilled fish skewer (we'll let you choose). Sit at long shared tables in a converted fishermen's hut.
Lava-bread tasting at a downtown bakery
20 minHverabrauð — dark, dense rye baked underground in geothermal heat at Laugarvatn — served with smoked Arctic char and butter.
Skyr dessert at Íðnó or Sandholt
30 minTour ends with skyr, the 1,000-year-old Icelandic dairy that Greek yoghurt copied. Topped with crowberry compote and toasted oats.
