About this tour
A 3-day expedition through Iceland's central highlands and the geothermal valleys most travellers never see. We sleep in mountain huts, soak in wild hot springs, and cross terrain that's only accessible mid-June to mid-September.
Day 1 takes us from Reykjavík up the F35 Kjölur route to Kerlingarfjöll. Day 2 hikes the Hveradalir geothermal valley and continues to Landmannalaugar for an overnight at the mountain hut. Day 3 is the optional Brennisteinsalda hike before the long return drive to Reykjavík.
Group capped at 8. Includes 2 nights at mountain huts (shared rooms; bring sleeping bag liner), all meals from breakfast Day 2 to breakfast Day 3, and the highland-rated 4×4 transport throughout.
Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1 — Reykjavík → Kerlingarfjöll Highlands

Pick up at BSÍ Bus Terminal at 08:00. We drive south to Hella, then up the F35 Kjölur route into the central highlands. Lunch at Kerlingarfjöll mountain hut, followed by a 3-hour walk into the Hveradalir geothermal valley — colored slopes, hot streams, steam vents. Overnight at the mountain hut (shared rooms with sleeping-bag liner).
2Day 2 — Kerlingarfjöll → Landmannalaugar

After breakfast we cross the central highland heartland to Landmannalaugar — the rhyolite-mountain wonderland and start of the Laugavegur Trail. Afternoon: optional 2-hour Brennisteinsalda hike, then a soak in the wild geothermal river. Overnight at Landmannalaugar mountain hut.
3Day 3 — Landmannalaugar → Reykjavík

A morning walk to Ljótipollur ('Ugly Pool') volcanic crater, then we drive south via the F26 to the lowlands. Lunch in Hella before the final leg to Reykjavík — arriving by 18:00. Drop-off at BSÍ.

What's included in the tour price?
All transportation, professional English-speaking guide, hotel pickup and drop-off in the Reykjavík capital area, and any entrance fees specific to your tour. Meals are not included unless explicitly stated.
What should I bring?
Warm waterproof outer layer, sturdy footwear, gloves, and a hat — Iceland's weather changes quickly. Charged phone and camera. We provide bottled water on board; a small snack is wise for longer routes.
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If we cancel due to weather or road conditions, you receive a full refund or a free reschedule — your choice.
Will the tour run if the weather is bad?
We run year-round and adapt routes to conditions. If a specific stop becomes unsafe, we substitute a comparable alternative. If the entire tour is unsafe, we contact you the night before with a refund or reschedule option.
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes. We pick up at designated stops in the Reykjavík capital area; your booking confirmation lists the exact stop nearest your hotel. The driver waits 5 minutes maximum, so please be ready 5 minutes before your scheduled pickup.
Can I bring my children?
Most tours are family-friendly for ages 6+. Northern Lights, glacier hiking, and highland tours have minimum-age restrictions detailed on each tour page. Children under 12 receive a 25% discount on most tours.
Are tours wheelchair accessible?
Our coaches are wheelchair-friendly with ramp access. Most stops are accessible, but some highland and glacier sites involve uneven terrain. Contact us before booking and we'll confirm accessibility for your specific tour and any adjustments we can make.
How small are the groups?
Day tours are capped at 19 guests. Highland and multi-day tours are capped at 14 guests. Multi-day expeditions to remote regions cap at 8. We never combine groups — your booking is your group.
