About this tour
Þórsmörk is the lush valley between three glaciers — Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Tindfjallajökull. Sheltered from the Atlantic winds, the valley grows birch and willow, and is famous for the Fimmvörðuháls hike that crosses to Skógafoss on the other side.
This is an 11-hour day from Reykjavík in a highland-rated 4×4 bus, with several river crossings before reaching Þórsmörk. The day in the valley includes a moderate 3-hour walk through the Stakkholtsgjá canyon — narrow basalt walls, a hidden waterfall at the head.
Bring sturdy boots, waterproof shell, and the packed lunch we provide. Group capped at 14.
