About this tour
Snæfellsnes is Iceland in miniature: glaciers, volcanos, lava fields, basalt cliffs, fishing villages, and the country's most photographed mountain — Kirkjufell — all on a peninsula you can circle in a single day.
We start with the dramatic south coast of the peninsula — Búðir's black church, the basalt cliffs at Arnarstapi, the Lóndrangar sea stacks, and the Saxhóll crater you can climb in 10 minutes. After lunch in the fishing village of Hellissandur, we round the western tip and stop at the Snæfellsjökull volcano-glacier viewpoint, made famous by Jules Verne.
Kirkjufell is the final stop, with golden-hour light if we time it right. The drive back via the Hvalfjörður tunnel returns us to Reykjavík by 19:00.
